Bring athletics to outback communities

Are you passionate about sport and working with kids? Do you want to make a real difference in your community?

Little Athletics Queensland is looking for someone to deliver fun athletics programs across South West Queensland. Based in Charleville, you'll travel to outback towns like Aramac, Windorah, and Thargomindah, teaching kids athletics skills and helping them enjoy being active.

What you'll do:

  • Run athletics programs at schools across the region
  • Work primarily with primary school children aged 5-12 years
  • Deliver holiday clinics and community events
  • Help train local coaches and volunteers
  • Build connections with schools, councils, and community groups
  • Support existing programs and help start new ones

What we're looking for:

  • Someone who enjoys coaching and working with children
  • Good communication skills
  • Energy and enthusiasm for sport
  • Ability to plan and run programs
  • Happy to work independently
  • Commitment to keeping children safe

What you need:

  • Current driver's licence and your own vehicle
  • Working with Children Check (or able to get one)
  • First Aid Certificate (or willing to get one)

The details:

  • Part-time: 30 hours per week (0.8 FTE)
  • Contract until 30 June 2028
  • $31.92 per hour + superannuation
  • Based in Charleville (work from home)
  • Travel allowance provided
  • Travel requirements include occasional overnight stays of 1-2 nights per month to remote communities plus travel to Brisbane a couple of times per year

Important: This position is funded through the Remote Jobs and Economic Development (RJED) program. You must be:

  • A participant in Remote Australia Employment Services (RAES), OR
  • Eligible for RAES services, OR
  • Aged 15-24 and living in a RAES region, OR
  • Reside in an RAES region
