Sibanye-Stillwater Australia (SSWA), a subsidiary of Sibanye-Stillwater Limited (a multinational mining and metals processing group) is a leading mining, tailings management, and economic rehabilitation company. Our flagship asset is the Century Mine and Karumba Port in Queensland. Which stands as the largest tailings remining and processing operation in the Australian industry, with opportunities for the future return to hard rock mining of both open pit and underground deposits.

We are also completing study work to support the restart of our brownfield’s development project, the Mt Lyell Copper Mine in Tasmania, which aims to produce copper, gold and pyrite via underground operations with a very small environmental footprint.

A rewarding opportunity currently exists for a Human Resources Officer to join our Sibanye-Stillwater Australia team.

This role is intended to be a stable, ongoing HR operations role and will suit someone who enjoys being a trusted, steady contributor and values continuity, quality and ownership in their work. While previous experience in mining or resources is not required, candidates should be comfortable working in a complex operational environment and keen to build depth and capability in a core HR operations role. Experience in large organisations, or subsidiaries of large companies, is highly valued.

  • Develop and produce monthly/quarterly HR reports and visually engaging graphs using Excel, presenting key HR metrics and data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Consolidate Performance and Salary Review information, preparing outcome letters and conducting mail merge activities to ensure accurate and timely communication with employees regarding their performance and salary reviews.
  • Post job advertisements and assist with the screening of applications, arranging interviews, and conducting reference checks.
  • Coordinate and manage the onboarding process for new employees, including verifying employee checks and setting up employee profiles.
  • Monitor and manage employee probationary periods, including reminders and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate personnel data, files, and records, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and Sarbanes–Oxley requirements.
  • Assist with offboarding procedures, ensuring timely completion of separation paperwork.
  • Collaborate with payroll and other stakeholders to ensure accurate processing of employee movements and provide necessary information for invoicing purposes.
  • Support the implementation of HR continuous improvement initiatives, including updating policies, procedures, websites, and documents.
  • Conduct research on HR administration topics and provide relevant insights as required.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR team and assist with other Regional Office tasks when needed.

 Qualifications:

  • Qualifications in Human Resources, Business and/or Administration.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in end-to-end HR administration, ideally in a complex or regulated environment
  • Exceptional skills in Excel, Word, SharePoint and Teams

Legal:

  • Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
  • Clear security screening record per region.
  • Ability to travel (if required).

Benefits of working at Sibanye Stillwater Australia:

  • Competitive remuneration with performance-based incentives
  • Salary packaging
  • Part of a multinational mining and metals processing group
