SYOS Aerospace is growing, and we’re looking for a Business Development Director - Australia to help accelerate our growth across the Defence, government and national security sectors. SYOS is developing and delivering unmanned vehicles across air, land and sea, and this is an opportunity to play a key role in bringing that technology to market.

With R&D and rapid prototyping facilities in New Zealand and growing manufacturing capability in the UK, this is just the start. We’re building the capability, products and global footprint to take SYOS to the next level. We’re looking for someone with the drive, relationships, networks and proven record to identify opportunities, build trusted partnerships and bring new business into a growing technology company.

What You’ll Do

• Drive SYOS’s Australian business development and growth strategy.
• Build and convert a strong pipeline across Defence, government and industry.
• Develop senior relationships across Defence, government, primes and strategic partners.
• Identify, shape and pursue strategic opportunities through to contract.
• Represent SYOS across customer engagements, industry events and key forums.
• Bring market insight and customer requirements back into the business.
• Work closely with engineering, product and leadership teams to align customer needs with SYOS capabilities.
• Help establish and grow SYOS’s Australian presence as the business scales.

What You’ll Bring

We’re focused on what you can deliver - your networks, relationships and proven ability to bring business in.

• Proven success in business development, strategic growth, capture or account management.
• Strong networks across Australian Defence and defence industry.
• Demonstrated track record of winning new business and delivering growth.
• Strong understanding of Defence and government procurement.
• Knowledge of unmanned systems, autonomous vehicles or the wider defence technology sector - this will be a significant contributor to your success in the role.
• Excellent senior stakeholder, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Commercial drive, initiative and the ability to operate autonomously.
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.

Location is flexible. Capability comes first.

We’re open to where in Australia this role is based for the right candidate. However, the successful person will need to be based in Australia and have permanent eligibility to work in Australia - this is a requirement of the role.
